Indian women own 11% of the world’s total gold reserves

The World Gold Council has estimated that Indian women own 24,000 tonnes of gold and jewellery, which is 11% of the world’s total gold reserves.

If we compare the gold reserves of the top 5 countries in the world, we can see that:

USA – 8,133 tonnes of gold

Germany – 3,351 tonnes of gold

Italy – 2,451 tonnes of gold

France – 2,436 tonnes of gold

Russia – 2,335 tonnes of gold

The total gold holdings of Indian women are almost three times higher than those of the United States, which has the largest gold reserves in the world.
