Apple to pay $95 million in compensation for Siri eavesdropping on users

There are criticisms that companies are stealing and using user data on technology products like smartphones.

Apple has been sued for unauthorized use of user data from Siri. Now, Apple has agreed to pay $95 million in compensation to affected users.

iPhone users have complained that Apple is eavesdropping on their conversations through Siri and selling them to third parties such as advertisers. An iPhone user said that after talking to a doctor, he saw an ad for the relevant clinic. Another said he saw those ads when he talked about Air Jordan shoes and the Olive Garden restaurant. They say it’s not a coincidence, it’s because of Siri.

Those who will receive Apple’s $95 million in compensation are iPhone and Apple Watch users with Siri between September 17, 2014 and December 31, 2024. It is estimated that 10 million people in the United States will receive up to $20 in compensation.
